Some 720 polling stations are expected to open for vote abroad

The time limit for the submission of advance applications to vote abroad has closed. It is expected that about 720 polling stations will open outside Bulgaria and the exact number will be clear after a decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC). The number of polling stations with machine voting is expected to be over 150. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova at a regular meeting that Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev had called to discuss preparations for the upcoming election on 27 October.

 

As regards the organization of the election in the territory of Bulgaria, the Minister of Innovation and Growth Rosen Karadimov declared that closing dates are abided by in every respect. The Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov informed that the Central Election Commission had delivered the voting machines and the certification of their compliance is under way. The trial will be conducted in an “impenetrable” precinct in the building of the Ministry of e-Government with a new camera fixed up for audio-visual broadcasting in real time.

 

The configuration of the devices for real-time video surveillance and video recording after the closure of the voting day in the polling stations started yesterday. It is planned to deliver the video surveillance equipment to the regional government administrations from 16 October onwards.
