“Our greatest asset is the people – the men and women in uniform. Let us honor them! I thank you for your service!” With these words Prime Minister Stefan Yanev addressed the solemn celebration of the 142nd anniversary of the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Prime Minister wished the naval officers and the civilians in the employment of the Navy to be brave and dedicated to the behest of our forefathers – to defend the homeland. The Prime Minister also thanked the families of the servicemen and servicewomen for their support in their mission to be guards of our country.
In his speech the Prime Minister recalled that every Bulgarian should remember the cause of our forefathers who defended our homeland as he emphasized achievements of the Navy veterans. The Prime Minister noted the good synergy between the Army and the business and cited the involvements of companies in operations together with the Navy. Stefan Yanev was firm that we must nurture visions that would guarantee precisely the behest of our forefathers which is to guard the homeland. “It is not platforms that underlie these visions – platforms change. The weapons platforms of the past have been replaced and will be even better in the future,” Prime Minister Yanev said. No matter how advanced the technology is, the human factor remains crucial.
The celebration of the 142nd anniversary of the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria was held in the Festival and Congress Center in Varna and was opened by the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.
