Prime Minister Stefan Yanev met H. E. Dr. Ahmed Al Madbuh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Bulgaria.
The meeting focused on the good relations and opportunities for the promotion of ties between the two countries. Emphasis was placed on the prospect for the effective implementation of the bilateral agreements signed in the areas of education, agriculture and tourism.
It was noted during the meeting that Bulgaria continues to observe Mideast developments with increased attention and great concern. The parties emphasized the need for the de-escalation of tension in the region, the immediate cessation of violence and the effective use of the tools of diplomacy. Accordingly, they focused on the opportunities enabling the international organizations’ potential and the mediation role of the countries in the region.
Prime Minister Stefan Yanev reiterated his position that a military solution is not a solution. It was emphasized that negotiations are the only path to a lasting and viable resolution of the conflict in the region.
The Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Dr. Ahmed Al Madbuh, brought up the problem of the shortage of medicines and medical equipment and pleaded for support to address it.
