Prime Minister Kiril Petkov talked with Germany’s Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz over telephone.
The two leaders discussed the war in Ukraine. Prime Minister Kiril Petkov informed Germany’s Federal Chancellor about the assistance that Bulgaria can provide to Ukraine for the repair of military equipment. The Bulgarian Prime Minister noted the possibility for Varna to become a wheat logistic hub and the importance of prevention measures at European level against the risks of food shortages stemming from the war.
A focus of the discussion was energy security in Europe, including measures taken by EU countries to secure gas supplies.
Also, Kiril Petkov and Olaf Scholz discussed the integration of the Western Balkans and the cooperation process with the Republic of North Macedonia. “Bulgaria is convinced that the future of the region is in the European Union family,“ Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said.
