Prime Minister Kiril Petkov met Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to discuss the possibility of additional Azeri gas supplies to Bulgaria beyond what had already been contracted for the new Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB). The two countries’ Ministers of Energy will agree on the details of possible new supplies, the talks of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and Azerbaijan’s President showed. In addition to their bilateral meeting, Kiril Petkov and Ilham Aliyev had a working dinner yesterday.
As part of his visit to Baku, today the Prime Minister met with members of the Azerbaijan business community who trade with Bulgarian companies. The businesspersons informed Prime Minister Kiril Petkov about their projects. It was noted that the trading volumes between the two countries could increase given the new opportunities for the fertilizer exports from the Caspian Sea region and for the food and essential oil cosmetics imports from Bulgaria. The members of the Bulgaria-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry thanked Prime Minister Kiril Petkov for the support for the appointment of an honorary consul of Bulgaria who is to facilitate business-to-business relations in the two countries.
