Prime Minister Kiril Petkov talked with the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the second day of the Munich Security Conference (MSC). The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and the importance of the creation of opportunities for better education and for encouragement of young people in both countries to choose to live there, as they are their countries’ future.
Earlier in the day, in Munich, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister had bilateral meetings with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Prime Minister Petkov and President Sandu charted common goals in the fight against corruption and in the rule of law as well as in energy security. The Prime Minister emphasized the large Bulgarian community in Moldova as being extremely important for the excellent relations between the nations of the two countries. In this context, the two leaders expressed support for the Bulgarian minority. Moldova’s President invited Bulgaria’s Prime Minister to visit the town of Taraclia where the Bulgarian community is compact.
Later, Prime Minister Petkov and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a joint declaration in support of Ukraine’s European perspective. As regards the Russia-Ukraine situation, Petkov and Zelenskyy shared their concerns about energy security while they expressed a hope for the de-escalation of tension in the region.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister met with Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. They discussed the opportunities for economic cooperation in information technology, coordination of logistics within the Black Sea and support for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic course.
The schedule of Prime Minister Petkov on the second day of the Munich Security Conference continues with bilateral meetings with Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and with Google’s Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy in Europe Annette Kroeber-Riel.
