“Today’s meeting and the memoranda signed with the Republic of North Macedonia have one main final result: the economic development of the whole region.” This is what Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovachevski after the government-to-government meeting. Mr. Kovachevski is on a two-day official visit to Sofia at Kiril Petkov’s invitation.
Prime Minister Petkov stressed the importance of the three key documents that were signed today: on agriculture, on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and on the development of the Sofia-Skopje railway. “This is an example of the new approach that we are taking with fresh vigor and tangible results,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister said firmly and added that the matters that had been disremembered in recent years would now be reopened. “It is a long overdue catch up yet given this verve and push I hope that we will catch up quickly,” Kiril Petkov said.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the results of today’s first meetings of the work groups between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia and explained that a joint secretariat between them would be appointed with very short deadlines for meeting the set goals. “Good neighborliness between the two countries will now be placed on a pedestal.
On his part, the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovachevski thanked his Bulgarian counterpart Kiril Petkov for the constructive dialog and highlighted the fruitful work of the ministers in work groups.
