Today Prime Minister Galab Donev hosted a working dinner in Boyana Residence in honor of Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the Republic of Armenia. The Prime Minister underscored the traditionally friendly relations between Bulgaria and Armenia as well as the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples.
The focus of the meeting was the opportunities for deeper trading and economic relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Galab Donev noted that Bulgaria considers Armenia a traditional economic partner with which we are willing to develop long-term win-win cooperation – both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union’s policy for the development of relations with the Caucasus and the Black Sea regions.
Prime Minister Galab Donev and President Vahagn Khachaturyan exchanged their views on specific areas where bilateral cooperation should be promoted and, in addition, on projects and initiatives where Bulgarian and Armenian businesses could interact, including in the field of high technologies, digital connectivity and communications.
The Prime Minister and the President specially underscored the benefits that would result from a permanent direct flight operating between Sofia and Yerevan. Such a direct operation would, undoubtedly, impact positively the Bulgarian-Armenian trading and economic relations, but also the promotion of cooperation in areas such as tourism and culture as well as people-to-people contacts.
