Prime Minister Galab Donev talked over telephone with Dimitar Kovachevski, Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia. They discussed the need for a smooth and unproblematic process of the upcoming commemoration of the 151st birth anniversary of the great revolutionary Gotse Delchev.

 

Thereby on Monday, 30 January, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev and the Chairperson of the State Agency for National Security (SANS) Plamen Tonchev are scheduled to have a working meeting with counterparts in Skopje to agree on the joint operations that are intended to ensure a calm and safe situation during the commemoration on 4 February.

 

Further, Prime Ministers Donev and Kovachevski discussed the benefits of deeper cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, especially in cases of criminal acts or threats against citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia who claim Bulgarian national identity.

 

Prime Minister Galab Donev recalled Bulgaria’s expectation that the Republic of North Macedonia would take appropriate action to end hate speech and hate-driven crimes and to respect the rights of the Macedonian Bulgarians.
