Prime Minister Galab Donev met with the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović who is on an official visit to Sofia. At their meeting in the headquarters of the government, they discussed the opportunities to deepen bilateral relations, the European perspective for Montenegro and some other relevant items on the regional agenda.
Prime Minister Galab Donev reiterated Bulgaria’s support for Montenegro in the country’s path to the European Union. He pointed out that it was the EU enlargement process that became a stabilizing factor and in the region and a strong incentive in the drive for key reforms. Further Galab Donev noted the importance of regional cooperation within existing formats and initiatives, which is also of key importance for the achievement of long-term security, stability and prosperity in South East Europe. Hereby Bulgaria’s Prime Minister congratulated Podgorica on the Montenegrin Chairmanship-in-Office of the SEECP (South-East European Cooperation Process) and highlighted its ambitious program with the priority areas of cooperation.
Prime Minister Galab Donev emphasized the traditionally friendly relations between Bulgaria and Montenegro that form a sound basis to build on cooperation in tourism, culture, economy, investment, energy, and in security and defense. The Prime Minister underlined the opportunities to increase trade with Montenegro by intensifying the work to reach a bilateral Investment Promotion Agreement.
