Our society demands justice and that is achievable only through the enforcement of the rule of law. In this context, the Caretaker Government’s agenda for the coming weeks definitely will incorporate the bills that the 48th National Assembly did not have the political will and time to pass, Prime Minister Galab Donev said at the opening of the cabinet day.
The Prime Minister recalled that the Bulgarian legislation makes it binding on the Government to reconsider and approve the said bills to be submitted to the 49th National Assembly. “These bills were submitted by the Caretaker Government to the 48th National Assembly and the political parties with MPs declared them their priority. The bills were required for Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area and for the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan,” Galab Donev noted.
The Prime Minister was firm that even more important is the fact that the legislation in question had been intended to push changes that are needed primarily by the Bulgarian people. “This is most clearly evident in projects associated with the reform of the Judiciary and the fight against corruption,” the Prime Minister emphasized. In his words, the said bills are a mirror that clearly reflects everyone’s contribution to the reform within the Judiciary. “Naturally, anyone is entitled to look at the mirror image depending on their personal perception of justice and corruption,” Galab Donev said further.
